Pricing reviewed October 2026
Milgard and JELD-WEN windows overlap on price. Modernize puts Milgard at about $400 to $1,800+ per window installed and JELD-WEN at about $300 to $1,500+ (both as of Oct 27, 2026). The bigger differences are elsewhere. Milgard sells vinyl, fiberglass and aluminum, with a warranty that includes skilled labor for 10 years inside its service territory. JELD-WEN adds clad-wood windows and is sold nationwide, but its standard skilled-labor coverage is 2 years.
Below is a side-by-side built from each manufacturer's own warranty documents and product pages, with third-party cost data where the makers don't publish prices. We don't rate or review either brand. There are no star ratings here, because we haven't tested these windows. For what drives window prices in general, see window cost by frame material.

What really separates them
Materials
If you want a wood interior, JELD-WEN is the only one of the two that offers it, with clad-wood lines such as Siteline. If you want fiberglass, Milgard's C700 is the option. Neither JELD-WEN source we checked names a fiberglass line, though its warranty does list composite. Both make vinyl at several price levels, and both make impact products for hurricane zones (see impact window cost).
Labor coverage
This is the clearest contract difference. A defective part is cheap compared with the labor to swap a sash or glass unit. Milgard covers skilled labor or shipping for 10 years from manufacture, but only if the home was inside its service territory when the windows were bought. Outside that territory, the owner pays labor. Milgard also sells an optional, paid Full Lifetime Warranty upgrade for certain lines. It adds lifetime glass-breakage coverage and labor for the original owner, and it ends when the home is sold (Milgard Full Lifetime Warranty). JELD-WEN's standard skilled-labor coverage is 2 years for most materials.
Availability
JELD-WEN is easier to find nationally. Milgard asks for your ZIP code because products and services vary by location, and its warranty labor depends on its service territory. Check that first if you're outside the West.
Pros and cons
| Milgard | JELD-WEN |
|---|---|
| + 10-year skilled-labor coverage in its service territory + Fiberglass option (C700) + Optional paid full-lifetime upgrade − Not available in every ZIP code; labor coverage depends on location − No wood-interior line | + Widest material range, including clad-wood + Sold nationally at big-box stores and dealers + Low-cost entry vinyl (about $300–$500 installed per Modernize) − Standard skilled-labor coverage is 2 years − Wood and composite frame coverage is shorter than vinyl's |
Pick Milgard if… / pick JELD-WEN if…
- Pick Milgard if you're inside its service territory, want vinyl or fiberglass, and value long labor coverage. That matters most when you plan to stay in the home.
- Pick JELD-WEN if you want a wood interior, need wide retail availability, or are pricing an entry-level vinyl job such as a rental or a quick pre-sale replacement.
- Either can work for coastal homes. Compare the specific impact product's approval and glass warranty, not just the brand.
Who each brand fits
Milgard fits homeowners in its service area who want a durable vinyl or fiberglass window with a long labor warranty. JELD-WEN fits buyers who want to choose among vinyl, clad-wood and aluminum from one maker, or who are shopping at a national retailer. Whichever you choose, get at least three written quotes. Our guide to comparing window quotes shows what to line up.
